Hello world!! so today we will be looking at "tooth wear lesions" this is a condition where there is loss of the hard tissue of the teeth not caused by decay or trauma. the causes of this condition could be : -physiological (ie due to normal functioning) -pathological (caused by abnormal reasons or conditions) In the coming weeks we will be shedding more light on the possible pathological causes but today we will be looking at the physiological cause; attrition ATTRITION this is a condition usually seen in the elderly where the edges of the teeth look filed and are short in length this is caused by years of usage, coarse diet and the action of the upper teeth against the lower teeth or grinding of the teeth(which some people do as a habit)
when severe, there could be sensitivity, and the teeth might become more prone to decay Things to do: if you or anyone you know has grinded down teeth especially if it has become sensitive, please do well to visit the nearest dental facility for management. stay healthy!!!!
